Dylan MacKay Memorial Fund

Dylan grew up in a home filled with love and music. His relationship with music began at a very young age, first learning piano, then guitar where he discovered his ability to play by ear, and once in high school, he discovered his true passion - drums.

For the next seven years, Dylan was a mainstay in the Edmonton music scene, being a member of a number of bands. he also developed a reputation for being able to fill in for other bands on short notice. If there was a show, and a drummer, guitar, or bass player was needed, Dylan was your go-to guy.

Dylan’s life in the arts went beyond playing music. While attending Archbishop Jordan High School, he developed a passion for sound and lighting within the Technical Theatre Program. This led him to the University of Alberta where he received a BFA with Distinction in Technical Theatre Production. After graduation, he went on to work at the U of A as an Event Technician where he could continue his love of sound/lighting for events happening on campus. Over the last few years, Dylan realized he could combine his love of music with his technical productions skills and began producing albums for a number of bands.

The best way to honour Dylan is to keep the music playing.

The Dylan MacKay Memorial Fund was established to do just that. All funds received support the Centre for Arts and Music (CAM) Program, operated by the Rock and Roll Society of Edmonton, a free after-school, rock music program for children and youth in vulnerable communities. The CAM Program will honour Dylan by providing youth an opportunity to nurture a love of music, and experience the positive impact it can have in so many aspects of their life. 100% of your donation goes to supporting the CAM program.

Whenever you hear a drummer, think of Dylan on stage, doing what he loved.

We are so honoured and grateful to Dylan’s family for establishing this fund. If you’d like to make a donation, please click here.
