Important Info for Rock Fest 2019
Q: What is the Centre for Arts and Music? (AKA, what do my beer, merch, and ticket purchases support?)
A: C.A.M is a children’s charity- yes, buying a beer does help a child- that provides youth experiencing marginalized circumstances with an after-school music education program. Kids develop valuable skills including, but not limited to confidence, teamwork, self-respect, and possibilities once unthinkable become reachable; much like performing in front of thousands of people at our festival.
Q: When do the bands play?
A: The set times are posted on (HERE), but they are subject to change. We recommend arriving 30 minutes before your favourite artist goes on, and plan to stay 30 minutes later than their set is scheduled to finish to ensure you can grab a drink, a great seat, and experience their full set.
Q: Can I smoke/vape at the festival?
A: Yes. We have a designated, gated smoking area. This area is the only location on festival grounds that the smoking of tobacco, cannabis, and vapes/e-cigarettes is permitted. Please follow the direction of our festival Security team, and remember that AGLC regulations prohibit taking alcoholic refreshments into the smoking area.
Q: Where can I park?
A: We have many parking options! We reserved the Windsor Car Park at the University of Alberta for our festival parking (the U of A’s posted parking rates apply. We offer a shuttle service from Windsor Car Park to Hawrelak Park for $4, round trip. This $4 supports the Rock and Roll Society’s Centre for Arts and Music. Another parking option is parking on Hawrelak Park grounds: this parking typically fills up quickly, which is why we provide alternatives.
Q: Can I bring my kids to the festival?
A: Yes! In fact, we want them to come so badly that kids aged 12 and under get in for FREE! You're being a great parent by introducing your kid to great music, by the way.
Q: What can I eat at the festival?
A: We have four exceptional food trucks coming to the festival: Bully, Drift, Smokehouse BBQ and Mike’s Royal Treats. Patrons are allowed to bring food onto site grounds. Please note that glass is not permitted and security will ask you to leave glass containers in your vehicle.
Q: Can I bring drinks into the festival? What drinks do sell?
A: Patrons may bring in sealed, non-alcoholic drinks with them into festival grounds. Drinks in glass containers, opened drinks, and alcoholic drinks are not permitted. We sell a variety of beer, wine, and coolers; please bring your government-issued photo ID with you!
Q: What happens if weather conditions are not ideal?
A: The show will go on, rain or shine, and as this is Alberta, you may want to pack for any & all weather.
Q: Where will I sit?
A: There are 1500 stadium chairs at the Amphitheatre; these cannot be reserved or saved. You may bring a small tarp or blanket to sit on grassy areas, or a festival chair- one that isn’t so tall that those behind you won’t be able to see. Security will check chair leg length to ensure this protocol is followed.
